To be in rhythm, you must practice and practice a lot in order to better your own technical, physical, psychological and tactical preparation for the next game. Practicing, though, does not always equal success in a real game. It alone does not equate to another win or satisfaction at the end of the contest that you and the team played to the best of your abilities. There are three main factors that contribute to being in rhythm individually and collectively as a team, enough to guarantee success in any real game situation.
In part 3 of our rhythm series we are discussing how rhythm relates to the player while having the ball at their feet. If the physical aspect of rhythm was termed "no wasted steps", this technical piece would be "no wasted touches".
A true soccer athlete that moves on rhythm is one that only uses energy that is purposeful to execute a necessary part of the game. He understands how and when to best change speeds and direction, as it is just as important to know when to stop or slowly move as it is important to know when and how to move quickly.
